Sunshine Sacks Project by Redmond High School Key Club

RKC mentors the The Redmond High School (RHS) Key Club. The RHS Key Club put together an amazing end-of-school-year effort to help elementary school students enrolled in the Pantry Packs program.

RHS Key Club President Anaiah Galen and fellow officers/members assembled over 90 Sunshine Sacks that were donated to eligible students at Rockwell, Clara Barton, Einstein, and Horace Mann Elementary Schools. These cheerful kits included a hand-written note, stuffed animal, snacks, jump rope, beach ball, mini activity books, colored markers, fabric markers to decorate the tote bag, coloring books, chalk, and playing cards.

Redmond Kiwanis Club was honored to support their efforts with donations we raised from our members and online to purchase the needed materials and supplies.

Thank you Redmond High School Key Club for helping bring smiles to students and for your incredible leadership!

Support for Communities

The Redmond Kiwanis Club (RKC) runs several active projects in the community in partnership with various local organizations. The key programs we participate in are:

Redmond Food Box Program:

Together with the Redmond School Break Food Box Program we care for families with school-aged children in the Redmond area. Our volunteers partner with the organization to deliver food boxes with fresh, healthy and nutritious items, that families and kids can enjoy.

Avondale Park Dinners:

Every month, RKC members host a full dinner for families at the Avondale Park community. We partner with Hopelink to serve families who join us for a hearty and hot meal.

Friends of Youth – The Landing Dinners:

Friends of Youth serves youth and young families facing circumstances of homelessness, foster care and behavioral health challenges. RKC organizes volunteering support every month to provide hot meals to the Friends of Youth.

Community Events with the City of Redmond:

Redmond, Washington is home to a close-knit community. We provide volunteering support to city-wide public events like “Beat the Bunny” 5K Walk & Run in April, Rockin’ on the River, Redmond Arts Festival and Derby Days in summer and Redmond Lights in December. All are welcome to attend and enjoy together.

Community Oriented Fundraising Drives:

We run our flagship holiday box project, and also help fundraise KidVantage (formerly Eastside Baby Corner) and Pantry Packs with Lake Washington Schools Foundation.

Key Clubs at Redmond High School and the Bear Creek School:

Key Clubs provide high school students with opportunities for leadership development. Key Clubs are the world’s largest service club for high school students and have over 217,000 members. Key Clubs are active in over 4,800 high schools in the United States, Canada, and 18 other nations. Every year, two hundred or more new Key Clubs are added to this fast growing organization. Well over 1 million people today can look back on Key Club as part of their high school experience.

The Redmond Kiwanis Club sponsors and mentors Key Clubs at Redmond High School and the Bear Creek School.

Jubilee Reach Monthly Breakfasts:

We support the mission of Jubilee REACH to positively impact the lives of the students and families in Bellevue by serving healthy breakfast to school going children.

Redmond Connector Cleanup with the City of Redmond:

This Service Project is a quarterly community beautification effort picking up litter and trash along the Redmond Connector path through the heart of downtown. Our volunteers participate in cleanups to keep our city beautiful.
